The Hot Flash Diaries
Still Hot. Just telling the truth now.

Widespread Symptoms:
Up to 75% of menopausal women experience symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats. Around 40-50 billion women in the U.S. alone grapple with vasomotor symptoms, while as many as 85% experience at least one symptom of vaginal atrophy. (Worldmetrics, Biomed Central & Cedars-Sinai).
Long-lasting effects:
Contrary to the perception that menopause is short-lived, studies show hot flashes and night sweats las a median of 7.4 years. For African-American women, this stretches to 10 years. (SO NOT FAIR). (Time).
Heart disease increases:
Post-menopause, women face rising blood pressure and cholesterol levels; heart disease now causes over half of women’s deaths after age 55 (Cedar-Sinai, Healthy Women). Given that heart disease is often thought of as a male issue, this remains an important wake-up call for women’s care.
Emotional Toll: Not just “moody”:
Many women report anxiety, low mood, irritability, and forgetfulness-core emotional symptoms that affect daily-well-being. (NCBI, PubMed).
Menopause is not a silent slide into aging. It’s complex, long-term life phase demanding visibility, tailored care, and compassionate understanding. Investing in education, medical access, and social support can transform the experience from struggle to empowerment.
Let’s share our experiences so we can come together and help each other.

Let’s get honest.
Menopause is something every woman will face. Yet somehow, it’s still one of the least talked-about experiences in a woman’s life. Why? Why do so many women avoid the subject, even with close friends or doctors? The reasons are deep-but they’re not impossible to change. And that’s exactly why we need to talk about it.
Because No One Else Talks About It
When was the last time you heard someone casually mention their night sweats over coffee? Or talk about vaginal dryness? EXACTLY… For decades, menopause has been hidden away, spoken about in whispers (if at all), or turned into the punchline of a joke. If nobody around you talks about it, you start to think you shouldn’t either.
Because It Feels Too Personal
Menopause affects everything: your body, your brain, your sleep, your sex life. Some women just don’t feel comfortable putting that out in the open- especially if they’re still trying to understand what’s happening inside themselves. And that’s okay- but silence shouldn’t be the only option.
Because It Feels Like Admitting You’re Old
Let’s talk about ageism baked into this. For many women saying “I’m in menopause” feels like saying “I’m no longer desirable” or “I’m past my prime”. The fear is real- especially in workplaces, relationships, and industries that worship youth. But the truth? Menopause doesn’t make you less. It makes you more. More wise. More grounded. More in your power.
Because They Don’t Know It’s Menopause
Here’s the wild part: a lot of women don’t even realize that what they’re experiencing is menopause. Anxiety, rage, exhaustion, forgetfulness- so many of us think we’re falling apart or going crazy, when it’s actually our hormones shifting. If we were taught what perimenopause and menopause actually look like, more women would recognize the signs and speak up.
So……….. Why Should We Talk About It?
Because silence keeps us isolated. Because every woman deserves a support, answers, and community. Because talking about it helps normalize it- and when something is normalized, it gets taken seriously. And maybe most importantly: Because when you talk about menopause, you give other women permission to talk about it too.

Hi everyone . Today I wanted to touch on some coping strategies to relieve you from the hardest symptoms menopause throws at us. I have changed my diet, added exercise (Walking), and even tried acupuncture (didn’t work for me). Although acupuncture wasn’t right for me, It might be right for you. I also tried a supplement that target supplied called Estroven, which caused my bloodwork to come back really bad but that’s a whole different conversation. What has worked for me is eating, healthy, and exercising 30 minutes a day. That does not take my hot flashes but it definitely has helped. Please share you thoughts or suggestions, we can help each other. So excited to hear from you all.

Hi, I’m Jenn- and this is the post I wish I’d found when my body first started feeling off.
It started with a hot flash- one moment I was out to dinner with my mom, the next I was melting from the inside out like someone had turned on an oven inside my soul. My face and neck flushed, sweat pooled behind my knees (why there?), and my brain checked out completely. I laughed it off, but inside I was thinking: What is happening to me?”
What was happening, of course, was menopause. Or rather, perimenopause- that magical time where your hormones go rogue and take your sense of normalcy with them. The real kicker? I had no idea. No one talks about it in real life. There was no warning label. Just me, my wildly unpredictable body, and google at 2AM. I found lots of dry medical websites, a few forums full of panic, and some questionable advice on supplements. What i didn’t find was the thing I really needed. A voice saying “You’re not crazy. You’re not alone. And you’re going to be okay.”
That’s why I started this blog. Not because I have it all figured out (spoiler: I don’t), but because I think it’s time we talked about menopause like we talk about pregnancy, puberty, or literally any other major life transition.
Here, I’ll be sharing:
-My personal journey-The good, the weird, the emotional, the hilarious
-Tips and tools that have actually helped
-The stuff no one tells you (but should)
-Conversations with other women who are navigating this too
This is a space for honesty, humor, and yes- a little heat.
Whether you are here because you just had your first night sweat, you’re deep in the thick of it, or you’re on the other side wondering what the hell just happened-Welcome. You’re in the right place. We have been silent for too long. It’s time to talk.
Let’s do this-one hot flash at a time.
-Jenn
